For the Hermes Bolide Togo Replica collector, the Lindy is a ‘must have’. For the Birkin alternative seekers, the Lindy is a beautiful choice. And for a newbie, the Lindy is a lovely functional bag, a great start to the world of Hermes.
More and more car engines were running at the 20th century and also the requirement for the mobile Hermès’ bags got bigger. The Sac pour L’auto obtained a name change, and has been dubbed the Bolide. A fun fact: it was the term for a meteorite from the 16th century and became a synonym for a car. Hermès also started to design specially for the car brand Bugatti, designing extra-luxurious accessories which accompanied the car, like leather wallets for travelmaps and driving gloves. Because of these events, everybody felt the need to journey along with the elegant bag design was quickly embraced by many. The Bolide was used for travels by car, by train as well as for trans-atlantic ocean liners. Hermès became the go-to brand for travelling. Ofcourse this carryall was not a handbag nonetheless. In 1982, the Bolide was introduced in handbag size, coming with a removable shoulder strap and a padlock. The dome-shaped beauty has a top handle and a zip-around closure. Mou is a soft leather, which provides the bag a more casual appearance. Rigide is hard and makes it a sturdy bag and a suitable candidate for work. It comes in various dimensions: 27 cm, 31 cm, 35 cm and 45. The 31cm is the dimension that is great for everyday wear. The 45cm is suitable for travelling, hinting in its original purpose. Palladium is the hardware that is used the most, but some may also be sent with golden hardware. In case your wondering what the oblong leather piece is for: it’s especially made for the initials.Since I inserted an Hermes Bolide tote to my closet a few years back, I’ve become convinced that it is among the very best and truly classic luggage that the brand has ever produced. It’s incredibly versatile, lovely (though I provide the top marks into the Kelly for attractiveness), and simple to use. My own bag was a bit black version (see the review here) with silver hardware in the 31cm size — and I adored it!
Color: Oatmeal 2mm. Total price: $60 (Once I placed my order, they actually held a sale — and were kind enough to update my total price without even me asking!) . I LOVE the Samorga in the Bolide. It’s the ideal balance between providing adequate structure to the tote, without being overly stiff/bulky that it might harm the tote’s natural form. My bag has started to sag during its weak points — on either side, in that space between the end of the zipper and the base of the bag. I wish I had bought the emptiness earlier.I wouldn’t recommend the interior layout which I chose though. That layout includes a detachable divider — which I’d found very useful on my preceding Samorga organizers. But since the Bolide’s shape tapers from bottom to top, the removable piece must taper, too… and it is just … weird and not functional. I just use the organizer with no detachable piece. The Bolide Bag has joined from the Hermes Permanent Collection since 1923. Emile-Maurice Hermes, the grandson of the creator, designed this handbag solely for his spouse in 1922. It was the first carryall with zip compartment, which was made to replace the typical metallic clasps. When Assembling the Bolide Bag, Emile-Maurice Hermes was motivated by automobiles. This tote can easily be stored in the back of a game car and thus it was given the title ‘sac pour l’auto. Later on the title was changed to Bolide.
Its new additions will have you lusting with this beauty. As an example, the double top pattern, the trapezoid shape that has two zippers on both the sides make it classy as well as functional. Additionally, it’s taller and roomier than the previous version.Don’t you think it’s utterly ridiculous to leave behind this type of bag which has eons of room to hold your travel or everyday requirements? It has two horizontal pockets to organize your essentials in a more clever way. Your things will be safe and secure as you can lock this timeless piece as and when required. And also, your stuff won’t fall down in the event that you keep this piece on the dining table or in the floor; the few little studs at its underside will make it’s posture erect. ‘m a big fan of Samorga handbag organizers. I believe I have bought 4 today! I know there are a whole lot of competitors / dupes on the market, but up to now I’ve yet to observe a true game in terms of quality and choices. Furthermore you can request a custom organizer — with custom dimensions in addition to a custom interior layout… which is exactly what I did for my Hermes Bolide! So below are my ideas of how well Samorga and a Bolide go together. . .They make organizers for Bolide 31s, but I wanted mine to have the interior design of a different organizer they sell (for LV Speedies).
The story of how I got my first Birkin and how sick I felt for 48 hours after
When I started to love handbags, I was young—probably around ten—and that’s when I first remember noticing them on moms. I would study the moms at school drop-off and pick-up and began recognizing different bags, but this wasn’t something I learned from my own mom. She had four young kids and a crazy schedule as she took us everywhere and anywhere (a feat that, to this day, I do not understand), and she wasn’t a huge fashion fanatic. I found it easy to learn about brands at the high-end malls near where I grew up; I could simply go to the mall and discover bag with my friends, but I didn’t learn about the elusive Hermès Birkin until I was in high school. A friend of mine was flipping through a magazine with me and she told me, “My dream bag is a Birkin, but there’s a wait list and it costs a fortune!” I was intrigued.
The brand’s clunky online store has finally got an update, and it includes lots of big, beautiful bag photos
Even though Hermès is known for its hard-to-buy handbags, that’s not the full story on how the brand interacts with its shoppers. Yes, Birkins and Kellys can be difficult to source (but it’s not impossible), along with most exotics. In recent years, though, Hermès has made an ever-growing number of its bags available to purchase on its website, even if the site itself wasn’t conducive to browsing. Now, though, Hermes.com has pulled itself into the 2010s, and the new site includes several hundred of the brand’s sought-after bags.
One Kardashian’s rainbow Birkin collection
Once upon a time, Khloé Kardashian used to carry bags other than Birkins. But those days may be over. Khloé has assembled a rainbow-colored collection of Hermès Birkins, and we’ve gathered them all together here for your viewing pleasure. We did a brief profile on her Birkins last summer, but even since then, her collection has expanded to include seemingly all the available colors.
The updated version of the decades-old design has an ingenious little clasp
The Kelly tote has just as glamorous a tale behind it. Originally made as a saddle-bag in about 1892, it is named after the movie star Grace Kelly, wife of Prince Rainier of Monaco, since she fell in love with one used as a prop during filming of Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch A Thief. She put the huge bag to great use in 1956, when, not yet ready to announce her pregnancy, she kept one up to conceal her emerging baby bump from the paparazzi. With that, the bag was immediately synonymous with Grace and it was re-named that the Kelly. The Hermes website boasts: ‘A Kelly is a rare and valuable thing’ and a week, a spokesman for the company stressed that the amount of bags it can produce is limited because only a small number of craftsmen have the necessary skills to earn them. They pointed out one worker takes 18 to 25 hours to make each Kelly bag by hand, whereas the Birkin takes even longer, stating: ‘Our production remains highly determined by the know-how of our artisans.’
The famous bag’s origin story is even weirder than most people know
The Hermès Birkin is the most iconic and sought-after handbag in the world (even if you don’t like it, it’d be hard to argue otherwise), and that means most fashion lovers have already absorbed a lot of information about how it was conceived, how it’s made and how hard it is to get one. There’s always more to the story, though, even for those of us who spend many of our waking hours thinking, talking, reading and writing about luxury bags.
With one in Tadelakt Leather and the other having a Horseshoe Stamp, this is quite the duo
We have a lot of bags sent to us to photograph to share with you all, including many from premiere brands. This allows us to give you an intimate look at bags that aren’t easy to see along with a real review of each item. There are a few brands that are hard to get information on and see the bags themselves – and the hardest of them all is Hermès. Luckily we have members of the PurseForum sharing images and adding to our Hermès reference library, but nothing is the same as seeing a bag in person.
